How Can You Know Him Better?

I’ve been a Christian for almost 40 years and I’m discovering everyday that I’m  learning something new about the Lord. Everyday I’m getting to know Him better.

How can you know Him better? The only way you can know Him is in the Word of God. That is where He is revealed. The word of God is like food and we must feast on it daily.

Some people think they can become super duper Christians if they attend one Bible Study Class a week. Let me say this, “that just ain’t gonna cut it!” For a man or woman to be all God wants them to be they must dine with the Lord continually!

If you truly want to  know Christ, you must live with Him in His Word as you go through the joys and hardships of this life!

The Bubba Adventure Update, South Main Street Baptist Church, Greenwood South Carolina!

Hello Friends,

I haven’t received the total number of decisions as of yet from last weeks visit in South Carolina. I can tell you the exact number of people who’ve  made professions of faith.

Are you ready for this? I will say, if this doesn’t light your shucks, you’re wood is soaking wet!

Pastor Alan Quigley told me that 110 people made a profession of faith! Now this is something to hoot and holler about!

Please pray for Pastor Alan and his staff as they follow up on all decisions. Pray they’ll be diligent in doing so. Pray that God will give them wisdom and keep them safe as they venture into new territory!

I thank you for praying for me, the ministry, and the souls that’s been saved and the lives that’s been changed.

God’s Will For Your Life!

I hear believers talking about finding God’s will for their lives. I can tell you where to find it and how! Aren’t you excited? All you’ve got to do is look on the pages of scripture! Finding God’s will is simple, just open the Bible and read!

The will of God for believers is to do the will of God, and the will of God, first of all, is to love Him! This identifies a true believer. If we love God with all our heart, soul and mind everything else becomes secondary and this is where God wants us all to be.

Matthew 22:37,  Jesus said to Him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

The Question Is, “Is It Pleasing To The Lord?”

I lived on a farm in Georgia as a young boy growing up. I learned how to work hard in the fields. One of our main crops was tobacco. I started attending church in my teens and I never heard the pastor talking about the dangers of smoking. I never heard him group smoking in with all the other sins he’d talk about!

I do remember seeing him along with some of the deacons stand outside after the services and light one up! Some may feel him smoking was wrong, while others would have no problem with it! In the same way some may feel that going to an X Rated movie is OK, while others say it’s wrong!

The question every Christian needs to ask themselves is this, “Is what I’m getting ready to do, say, see, or think pleasing to the Lord?’ You see, once we come to know Jesus we are to walk the way He walked, we are to talk the way He talked, and we are to act the way He acted!

I will say this, if you’re having a problem trying to decide whether somethings right or wrong, it’s probably wrong!

I John 2:6 says, “He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked!”

Are You Sure You Know Him!

Have you ever doubted your salvation? It’s been a long time for me, but I have! As I look back I realize I doubted my salvation during times when I was disobedient to the Lord.

I John 2:3 says, “And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.” This is not talking about the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments were given to the unsaved!

In I Thessalonians there are twenty two commandments given to a child of God. Here are a few of them. Rejoice evermore – God wants you to be a happy Christian in all circumstances. Pray without ceasing – When you get off your knees, you are to still walk in a prayerful attitude. Quench not the Spirit – In other words, don’t say no to God!

These are just a few commandments the Lord has given to us as believers. By following them we can have the assurance in our hearts that we know Him.  You see, a sincere Christian does not do as he pleases, he does as Christ pleases! If you are doing as you please, you are living in darkness. Step out of the darkness and walk in the light!

Are You A Hit And Miss Christian!

Everyday I take time to read God’s Word. It hasn’t always been that way. For many years I was a hit and miss Christian. Sometimes I’d get up and spend time alone with the Lord and sometimes I wouldn’t! I remember waking up many times knowing I should grab my bible and read it, but then I’d simply brush that idea under the rug!

During that time in my life God used me in spite of myself. I do wonder how much more He could have used me if I hadn’t been brushing Him off! I’ve come to the conclusion that hit and miss Christians are not very sincere at all. I wasn’t, I was just playing the game.

You see, every sincere child of God wants to have fellowship with the Father. They have a want to, to walk in the light of the Word. The ongoing problem is sin! Sin in the life of a Christian, whether it be big or small breaks communion with the Father and creates hit and miss Christians.

Today, you and I may say, “I don’t do anything really bad.” But how about doing good? James says in James 4:17, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin!”

Aren’t you tired of  being a hit and miss Christian? Aren’t you tired of brushing that little sin under the rug that keeps you from having fellowship with the Lord? Let God have His way in your life today!FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailShare

The Bubba Adventure Update, South Main Street Baptist Church, Greenwood, South Carolina

Hello Friends,

My day yesterday was fast and furious. Got out of bed at 4:30 a.m. and was at the airport around 5:45. Flew into Atlanta, Georgia and drove 3 hours to South Carolina.  After arriving in South Carolina we set up for the program, drove to the pastors house to pick up a blanket and went right back to the church.

I did two thirty minute programs last night back to back and the pressure was on. Why was the pressure on? Because the pastor told me if I went over thirty minutes with either program it would completely disrupt their evening. (Believe it or not, I Did It!)

It was absolutely fantastic! There was around 850 people in attendance. There were boys, girls, moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas. You name it and they were there.

Here’s the best part. Many decisions were made for our Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t know exactly how many as of yet because the numbers haven’t been tallied and we do have one more night. I’ll let you in on the final total tomorrow night or Friday after I get home!

Pray with me that God continues to work in the hearts and lives of the people here! Be blessed and have a good one. Here, there, or in the air!

Liar, Liar Your Pants Are On Fire!

I heard of a preacher who lives in the State of Oklahoma who made this comment one day to some fellows. He said, “I’ve not sinned for over a week.” He also said, “There’s no way he could ever cheat on his wife!” If I’d been there I would have said, “Liar, liar your pants are on fire!”

Listen very carefully. You’re a sinner, I’m a sinner, and that preacher in Oklahoma is a sinner and we can’t get around it. Friends, whom do you deceive when you say that you have no sin? You deceive yourself, and you are the only person whom you deceive. You don’t deceive God, you don’t deceive your neighbors, you don’t deceive your friends, you only deceive yourself.

I John 1:8 says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us!”

This is worse than being a liar. When  a person gets to the place where they say there’s no sin in their life, there is no truth in them at all. This doesn’t mean the person is simply a liar, it means that they don’t even have the truth!

God’s Woodshed!

Did you know God has a woodshed?  I know, I’ve been there many times. There have been times I think I can walk with God with sin in my life. When I think that, I’m making myself out to be a liar!  When I play that game God always has certain ways to get me back where I need to be.

I will say, His discipline is not always welcomed, but it is necessary for me as a child of God. If you’ll remember God took David to the woodshed and Ananias and Sapphira didn’t get off very easy! Be thankful when God takes you to the woodshed, because that let’s you know for sure you are His child!

I John 1:6 says, “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.”
