Children Set The Example! Something To Think About!

Matthew 18:2 says, “And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them.” What does this verse tell us as adults? It tells us that the little child came to the Lord without hesitation!

Last night during the revival at First Baptist Church in Beaver, Oklahoma 15 to 16 children walked the aisle. Some came getting right with the Lord and others came asking Jesus to save them. That’s the happy part of the story, the sad part is, not one adult moved!

Adults have been making decisions in church all week long and they refuse to make their decision public. A few have come but that’s it! The problem could be fear, pride, disobedience or hesitation! I do know this, most of the time when the Lord tells me to do something and I don’t, it’s because I hesitation. I think about it, instead of acting on it immediately!

Hesitation is a lack of faith which leads to disobedience. The little child in Matthew 18 verse 2 didn’t hesitate he simply obeyed!

Hear, Listen and Obey! Something To Think About!

In the Old Testament there’s a story about a man named Jonah. Jonah knew the Lord and the Lord wanted to use him. One day the Word of the Lord came to Jonah. The Lord said, “Jonah, I want you to go to Nineveh and tell the people there about me!”

Jonah heard and listened but he didn’t obey and because of his disobedience he got himself and others in a lot of hot water! Sometimes we men are like Jonah and you women are Jonettes!

God speaks to us through His Word. We hear, we listen but we don’t obey. I do this all the time. I guess you could say I’m a repeat offender! The good news is, God loves repeat offenders and He’s always willing to forgive and forget! Let’s hear God, listen to God and obey!

First Baptist Church, Beaver, Oklahoma Update!

I started revival at FBC in Beaver, Oklahoma this past Sunday. We are having a wonderful time here. God is moving in the midst of His people and lives are being changed.

The spirit in this church is fantastic! The pastor loves his people and staff and they love him. They treat me like I’ve been a member of this church for years.

Please continue to pray for the revival meetings. We have three more nights and then I go home Friday. Pray that souls would be saved and lives changed. I thank you!

Ya Just Gotta Let Him! Something To Think About!

Isn’t it wonderful to know that God wants to use sinners like you and me to present the gospel so that others might be saved? It blows my mind at times when I think about it, but it’s true, God wants to use you and He wants to use me!

You might say, “He can’t use me, look at the things I do, say and think!”  Well, let’s take a look at a few people in scripture who really blew it boy, but God used them anyway!

King David played kissy face with Bathsheba, got her pregnant and had her husband killed. God took David to the woodshed and  David confessed his sin and got right with the Lord. God later said that David was a man after his own heart!

How about old Peter? He denied our Lord three times but on the Day of Pentecost God used that man who always had his foot in his mouth to preach the greatest sermon ever preached by man! If God can use men like these, God can use men and women like us. We just gotta let Him!

The Keys! Something To Think About!

Matthew 16:19, And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

What are the keys of the kindgom of heaven and who are they given to? Every Christian today has the Scriptures, and therefore the keys. If we withhold the Word of God we bind on earth. We have a responsibility today to give out the gospel because it is the only thing that can save people. You and I have an awesome responsibility indeed!

A Lack Of Faith Equals Rejection! Something To Think About!

Do you ever catch yourself sitting around worrying about this or that? How’s this bill going to get paid? Where are you going to get the money from to fix the family car? And the list can go on and on.

When I find myself doing that I try to suppress those thoughts because I know full well that the Lord has and will take care of me and my family. The Bible says to take all thoughts captive and give them to the Lord!

A christians reluctance to believe actually constitutes a form of rejection. Our unbelief in the Lord is sin. In Romans 14:23 it says that, “whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” In Hebrews 12:1 we are told to lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us.” That weight I think is unbelief and that is sin!

Jesus is worthy to be believed and we ought to believe Him and never doubt!

Tragedy! Something To Think About!

Do you remember the story of Peter walking on the water? He and his friends were out in a small boat when a storm arose. It was a terrible storm and they were in trouble. Jesus went to them walking on the water. They thought He was a ghost but Jesus let them know immediately it was Him.

Peter said, “Lord, if it is you let me come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come!” Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water. He was doing fine until He took His eyes off Jesus and saw how boisterous the wind was. He immediately started to sink.

Peter got down to business and said one of the shortest prayers recorded in scripture. He said, “Lord, save me!” The Lord immediately stretched forth His hand and caught him! We don’t need to criticize Peter because of what happened to him.

The same thing has happened to me. I step out on faith and then take my eyes off Jesus. This is the tragedy of the hour in our day! When I take my eyes off the Lord fear and anguish enter in! This simply should not be!

Inside or Out! Which Is The Most Important? Something To Think About!

Matthew 15:10-11, And He called the multitude, and said to them, hear, and understand. It’s not that which goes into the mouth that defiles a man; but that which comes out of his mouth, this defiles a man!

Little Johnny comes in from playing in the dirt to have lunch and the first thing we say is, “Go was your hands!” Little Susie is in bed and she’s ready to go to sleep and we say, “Did you remember to brush your teeth?” Being clean on the outside is good, but what about being clean on the inside?

You see, we as parents instruct our kids to wash this and brush that but we pay no attention to what they are watching on television or listening to on the radio or Ipod. Of course, children should brush and scrub but what is on the inside is far more important?

What Many Fail To Realize! Something To Think About!

Today I read about how Jesus fed the five thousand. In reality he probable fed between 15, 000 and 20,000 if you count the women and children. Jesus had been healing the sick and when evening came His disciples instructed Him to send the multitudes away so that they could go into town and buy food.

Jesus said to His disciples, “They don’t need to leave; you give them something to eat.” The disciples said, “We only have five loaves of bread and two small fish.” The disciples had seen Jesus perform miracle after miracle but now they doubt!

We do the same thing today. We fail to realize that the solutions today are not in government nor in human imaginations but in God! The thing that is lacking in our lives, churches and government is the power of God!

I Stay In Trouble! Something To Think About!

My mouth has gotten me into more trouble than anything throughout my lifetime. Now, my texting is getting me into trouble. Yesterday, I sent a text to a friend of mine asking him if he wanted to go to lunch one day this week.  I made a certain comment that I’ve used with many people before but it upset my friend!

It’s true, he’d asked me not to use those words before but I simply forgot. At first, I wanted to tell him to get over it, but our Lord showed me that would not have been the proper thing for me to do. So, I sent him another text apologizing and asking him for forgiveness!

You see, things that wouldn’t bother me or you just might rub another person the wrong way. When we rub someone the wrong way or offend them we need to try our best to make amends even when the offence comes through a text message!

James 3:2, “For in many ways we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body!”
