It’s Not My Fault, It’s Yours! Something To Think About!

I didn’t do it, you did! Don’t blame me, it’s your fault, not mine! Since the day Jesus was crucified people have been trying to decide who was the blame.

Many of us blame the Roman government, the religious rulers and his cowardly disciples for him being crucified. Oh, they had a hand in it but they should not accept all the blame!

I’ll tell you who is responsible for His death. You are responsible and I am responsible. It was for my sins and your sins that He died.

John 10:17-18, “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. This commandment have I received from my Father.”

He died on the old rugged cross so that sinners like you and me could be saved. Let’s face up to the fact that our sins put Him there and that He was willing to become sin so that we could have forgiveness. Jesus, the Son of God is Awesome!

Tongues Movement! Something To Think About!

When we lived in Muskogee years ago there was a church that offered classes on speaking in tongues. I had a friend that was a member of that church and we’d always have a friendly debate about that. He finally joined the baptize church but always informed me he could speak in tongues.

Back in the day when the men of God spoke in tongues, they spoke to others in their own dialect. They were not unknown tongues, they were languages that were understood.

Ephesians 5:18 says, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the spirit.” Have you ever been around a drunk man. He seems to have more power and he certainly is more talkative.

Perhaps many of us need the filling of the Holy Spirit today to make us more talkative, not to speak in an unknown tongue which does no go to the hearer, but power to speak the gospel to others. This is the kind of tongues movement we need in this day and time. Let’s use our tongues today to spread the good news instead of gossip!

His Command Is Personal! Something To Think About!

Have you ever said I can’t do it, or thunk it! I was having lunch with a friend of mine the other day and we were talking about the ministry. He made this comment, “I could never do what you’re doing!”

I have to disagree, he could do what I’m doing and more with the help of the Holy Spirit! Shoot, I can’t do what I’m doing without His help and I’ll be the first to admit it! Without Him, we are nothing but a pile of dirty old rags.

Some of the people on my board of directors and advisory board are doctors, inventors, designers, teachers, housewives and the list goes on and on. God has given us a commission and that commission is found in Acts 1:8.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and the unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Our witness is to Jesus Christ. He is the center of attraction! Jerusalem means our hometown. All Judea means our community. Samaria represents the other side of the tracks, the people we don’t associate with, and then, the uttermost parts of the earth. His command to us is personal, we can’t pass it off to someone else!

It Doesn’t Matter! Something To Think About!

In my travels many people ask me what I think about Joel Osteen. I tell them I’m sure he’s a nice man but I’m not hooked on his preaching style. They then ask me what I mean. I tell them he preaches feel good messages. He tells people if they’ll do this and that God will bless them with great riches which is not always true.

You see, I don’t feel you need a lot of money to be rich. I have my saviour, my wife, my kids, my health, a nice car, a motorcycle, a nice home but not much money in the bank and I consider myself a rich man. I’ve been blessed.

I don’t need to get all tangled up in Joel. It Doesn’t Matter what Joel does or what he says. My job is to follow the Lord. I’m to be obedient no matter what and that’s your job to! Keep your eyes on Jesus and your glass will always look half full instead of half empty! Be blessed!

Come and Dine! Something To Think About!

John 21:12-14, Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples asked him, who are you? knowing that it was the Lord.

Jesus then came, took bread and gave it to them, and some fish likewise. This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

“Come and dine,” what an invitation from our Lord. Jesus did say, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel,” but He would rather you would come and have breakfast with Him before you go.

Spend time alone with the Lord daily before you leave your house. If you don’t you may act  like the devil or the old devil will beat the snot out of ya!

He Was Naked! Something To Think About!

Draw near to God and He’ll draw near to you! This I believe was Peter’s goal! I know, old Peter was always walking around making a fool of himself. He had a common disease among men and it was called foot in mouth.

It’s true, Peter blew it at times but there is something special about him. Peter always wanted to be close to our Lord.

Remember when Jesus came walking on the water. Peter got out of the boat and was walking on the water towards Jesus after Jesus had given him permission. Many people bash Peter about this, but he at least had enough faith to step out of the boat onto the water while the rest just sat there.

The next event took place one morning after the disciples had been fishing. They’d caught nothing then Jesus shows up. They didn’t recognize him in the beginning, but when Peter was told by John it was  the Lord he wrapped his garment around him because he was naked and jumped in the water and swam to shore.

He didn’t wait like the others did in the boat, he wanted to be close to the Lord. Do you have that same desire? Did you get up this morning excited about meeting with the Lord? Gods desire is get close to us, we simply have to let Him!

Did You Catch Anything? Something To Think About!

I hate going fishing and not catching a thing. Sometimes you go and you never get a nibble! This can be very frustrating unless you’re a patient man like me. LOL!

Back in the day Peter, Thomas, Nathanael and the sons of Zebedee went fishing. They fished all night and caught nothing. When morning came Jesus stood on the shore but his disciples didn’t know who he was.

Then Jesus said to them, “Did you catch anything?” There answer is a short, NO! They don’t even want to talk about it!

This is a question he is bound to ask everyone of us someday. “Did you catch anything? What did you do for men down there on earth?” I hope your answer will not be the same as theirs. “No, we haven’t caught a thing!” We as God’s children are to be fishers of men! Let’s go fishing!

Valentines Day! Something To Think About!

36 years ago I met my Valentine. She’s a godly lady who loves me and our children. Yesterday I bought her roses and placed them on the table to see as she came in from work.

This afternoon I’m taking her to dinner and a movie. I’ve bought her a box of chocolates and two marsh mellow hearts! I do this to show the one who puts up with me how much I love her!

Robin loves me but my Lord loves me more. He not only puts up with me but He forgives me for every sin I’ve ever committed if I ask Him to do so!

She shows her love to me daily but so does He. He reminds me that He gave His life for me on the cross at Calvary. Because of His great love, mercy and grace anyone can be saved.

The Bible says, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends!” True love is found in the person of Jesus Christ!

A Friendly Debate Continues! Something To Think About!

As I travel across the US a friendly debate continues. I tell the folks during our revival meetings that I believe there’s no way a Christian can be right with God unless their spending time alone with Him daily.

I also tell them I believe the best time to have a Quiet Time is in the morning before they go to work, school, or play. This is where the debate begins. Some say I’m not a morning person so I do mine at night. I say, that’s all fine an dandy if you wanna settle for second best!

Jesus rose early in the morning to spend time alone with the Father and the Bible says he sets the example for us in all things.

Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me!”

Think about this, our Lord, after His resurrection appeared to Mary Magdalene before He did anyone else. Why? She was up and at em. She sought Him early and she found Him! Have a good one as you spend time alone with the Lord!

He Will Always Take You Back! Something To Think About!

Have you ever thought you’d done something so bad that the Lord couldn’t forgive you. Let me very frank with you, you may have thunk it, but it just ain’t true!

David, the greatest king of all time, slept with Bathsheba, had her husband Uriah killed and then married her. David should have been put to death but God spared his life. He got right with our Lord and started living for Him once again. God said that David was a man after his own heart. This was said by God about David after the man had committed adultery and murder!

Peter, that low down dog who denied our Lord three times. He was the disciple who walked around with his foot in his mouth. God met with this man one on one after his resurrection privately. He forgave Peter and Peter forgave himself. He was chosen to preach the first sermon on the Day of Pentecost.

It was the greatest sermon every preached, there will never be one to duplicate it! Old Peter, the foot in his mouth coward was forgiven by our Lord and was used in many mighty ways!

I’m sure God seemed to be far from them at the time they committed those terrible acts of sin, but He wasn’t! Remember this, a child of God may get far from Him, but He’s never far from them! Be blessed, and rejoice in Gods goodness!
