The Greatest Sin! Something To Think About!

This morning when I got up I glanced at the newspaper that was in a basket in the bathroom. I saw two words, murder and rape. I thought to myself, man, how in the world could any person treat another person so terribly bad!

I then proceeded to my recliner to read God’s Word. John 16:8 says, “And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: Of sin, because they believe not on Me!

Murder and rape are not the greatest sins in the world. The greatest sin in the world today is unbelief in Jesus and the greatest sinners are those who’ve never trusted in Him!

The man or woman today, whoever he or she is, if they are rejecting Jesus Christ, in the sight of God, they are the greatest sinners of all! All people have a decision to make. Will I trust God or will I not? Let’s pray that they will!

By the way, I’ve trusted in Jesus but their have been times in the past I’ve not trusted Him completely. I’ve allowed fear and doubt to enter my heart and mind about his provision. Fear and doubt is me not believing in Him to take care of me and my family and that is just as bad. I’m A Rascal!

The Highest Ambition Any Man Or Woman Can Have! Something To Think About!

Ambitions and desires, we all have em! Let me ask you a personal question today. What is your desire in life? What is your ultimate goal? Do you want to get rich and get rich fast? Do you want to make a name for yourself? Do you want to educate your children? Do you want to bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord?

Our goals may be worthy goals, yet the highest goal is expressed by Philip who was a very quiet individual! Philip was the disciple who didn’t say much but he was always bringing someone to the Lord! Remember, he was the one that introduced Nathanel to Jesus. The Greeks also came to him wanting to see Jesus!

Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, shew us the Father!” This is the highest ambition any man or woman can have! Seek the Lord and His strength, Seek His face continually!

Christians Cannibals! Something To Think About!

Do you realize that the most important commandment for a Christian is not to witness, not to serve, but to love other believers?

As I travel throughout the USA I see some churches who are very loving and kind, but there are those out there who are down right vicious concerning their staff and some church members!

When the lost world hears of people in the church treating their pastors or members badly this gives God and the church a black eye! I have seen pastors treat their congregation like dirt to! What we’ve become is Christian Cannibals!

Gal. 5:15 says, “But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one to another.” This is the type of thing that is turning the unsaved away from the church today!

John 13:34-45, A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Because of Love! Something To Think About!

In Exodus 21 I’ve learned of a law regarding slaves. A Hebrew slaved served his master for 6 years and would be set free on the 7th. During that time if he had taken a wife and they had children, the master would free him but not his family!

However, the slave could choose to stay if he loved his family and his master. Then the master would back him up to a door post and bore his ear with an awl which would identify him as a voluntary slave for the rest of his life.

Although he could have gone out free, he stayed because of love. Our Lord Jesus came down to this earth in the form of a little baby, and was made in the likeness of a servant. He died on the cross for you and me so that we could have a relationship with Him. He became a slave because He loves us!

This was a choice He made! Now, you must make a choice daily to serve and obey Him!

Be Thankful, Always! Something To Think About!

Be Thankful, Always! Something To Think About! January 17, 2012

I’m thankful when things go my way! I’m thankful for Robin, my kids and my friends! I’m thankful for being in the ministry! I’m thankful for my car that a brother in Christ is buying me! I’m thankful for people who support the ministry!

Some of you may know that Mimi was in a car wreak and her car was totaled. The lady admitted fault and gave us all the info concerning her insurance company which is AAA. We thought there would be no problem settling with them.

It has been a nightmare and AAA is the hardest company in the world to work with. As a matter of fact we’ve turned everything over to our insurance company, State Farm to take care of the settlement! Last week for two days my stomach was tied in a knot!

Today, as I was reading God’s Word our Lord showed me that I should have been thankful for that. You see, it’s real easy to be thankful when things are going our way!

John 12:28, Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Our Lords supreme desire is the glory of God. What a lesson this should be for us. We should not whimper and complain and ask God why He lets unpleasant things happen to us. With Christ, we should learn to say, “Father, through the unpleasant things that are happening, glorify yourself!”

It’s tough, but I can and you can do it!

Secret Agent! Something To Think About!

When I was a kid growing up there was a popular TV show on called “The Secret Agent Man!” I loved watching that show and I could imagine myself playing the part!

The Secret Agent man was to keep his identity a secret from the enemy so that he could find out what their evil plans were and destroy them. He was a brave man, willing to die for his country! Did you know there were Secret Agents in the Bible?

John 12:42-43, Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on Him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

This was unfortunate. They were like secret believers today who are cowards. They didn’t stand up and be counted for the Lord because they were afraid they’d be banded from church!

What causes you to shy away from letting people know you love the Lord? Are you a secret believer or do people know you’re a follower of Christ?

The Most Dangerous Thing In The Whole Wide World! Something To Think About!

Once upon a time there was a little boy who lived on a farm in Georgia. This boy loved being on the outside! He was told as he’d go to the woods to watch out for rattlesnakes. He was taught to watch out for black widow spiders that was hiding under logs or boards.

He grew up thinking that rattlesnakes and black widow spiders were two of the most dangerous things God had created, and they are!

My friend, the most dangerous thing on the face of Gods green earth is to hear the gospel preached and then turn your back on it! If  a person just goes on listening and listening and does not accept it and act on it, there comes a time when that person cannot hear and cannot see! It it to late!

John 12:37, But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed him not!

It’s down right sad when a lost person goes to church, hears the Word of God preached and walks out during the invitation lost as a goose in a hell storm. Don’t allow that to get you down in the dumps. It happened during the days of Jesus and it will continue to happen now! Just be faithful and continue bringing them in to the house of the Lord!

I Didn’t Do It! Something To Think About!

Folks, I didn’t do it! You’re probably wondering what I didn’t do! Here ya go! When I was in high school I learned how to swim in the river by Bubba Taylor’s house. I dog paddled across the river and then headed back to the other side.

Half way across I got tired. I went under once and didn’t panick. When I went under the next time I said to myself, “If you don’t swim out of here this time you’re gonna drown!” When I came up that time I swam out!

The next weekend I went to the pool and jumped off the high dive for the first time. I got tired and couldn’t get out. I needed help and the lifeguard was paying no attention. Greg Still, a young man that weighted close to 100 pounds if that soaking wet jumped in and tried to help!

I told him to leave me alone and I’d get out myself. When I got out of that pool I was embarrassed and frustrated! I realized today that I never thanked Greg for trying to save me! That’s what I didn’t do!

There’s a song that says, “I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore!” I was, you were, and many in this world is drowning in sin but thanks be to God we have a Saviour. Let me encourage you to thank God for His salvation!

Pet Sins! Something To Think About!

Do you have problems with sin? You might not have a problem with cussing but you have a problem with gossip! You might not have a problem with making fun of others but you have a problem with dwelling on impure thoughts!

I struggle with my pets sins. Sins that I know I should get rid of but they seem to keep coming back now and then, and they keep coming back because I enjoy them!

You see, we sin because sin smells good, taste good, feels good, and looks good! We also sin because deep down we are a bunch of rascals!

Paul said, “For what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I…O wretched man that I am!”

Paul had his pet sins just like you and I. One thing I can say about him is, he did realize that he was a rascal and that he needed help which is half the battle being won!

I have some good news. The battle of sin will be over when we’re walking down the streets of gold in glory! Praise God!

He’s Everywhere! Something To Think About!

John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you”

Back in the day when Jesus walked the earth He couldn’t be everywhere. He was limited geographically. If he were in your town he couldn’t be in my town.

But thanks be to God he can be anywhere and everywhere today because of the Holy Spirit. He’s in Georgia right now with my brother and sister. He’s in Michigan with a friend of mine who’s name is David Hoge and He’s here in Houston with me, Robin and our girls!

He’s with you during the good times and He’s with you during the bad times. He’s with a person as they walk throught the valley of the shadow of death and He’ll be with us throughout eternity!

What an awesome God we serve!!
