Why I Read God’s Word!

I’ve had people ask me why I’ve committed myself to reading God’s Word daily! As I started reading this morning the third verse I read is found in Isaiah 41:10.

It says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness.”

This verse has been a source of strength and comfort to His children throughout the years, past and present!

God doesn’t want us to walk around in fear and confusion, He wants us to put our trust in Him daily!

He wants to strenghten you! He wants to help you! He wants to hold you up in times of crisis with His right hand of righteousness!

All these things mentioned in Isaiah 41:10 are promises from the one who created us!

Just think, if I hadn’t gotten up and opened my Bible to read, I would have missed it all!

Pay Attention Or You’ll Miss It!

Scientists long ago thought the earth was flat. As a matter of fact, some thought if a ship sailed to the end of the earth it would drop off! LOL

If the scientists had been reading Gods Word and paying attention to it they would have known that the world was round!

Isaiah 40:22, It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants are as grasshoppers…..

You see, God’s Word has the answer for everything! The problem is, we don’t read God’s Word expecting to get an answer, or we don’t pay any attention to the answer once we read it!

Do You Want Answers? Do You Want The Truth? Can You Handle The Truth?

If you do want answers and you can handle the truth then let me encourage you to dive into God’s Word daily whole heartedly! You’ll be blessed when you read it because that’s a promise from God to you!

Comfort, Joy and Peace! Where To Find It!

I got a call one day from a friend of mine who lives in Georgia. Her brother in law had just passed away at an early age. The wife is anger and bitter at God because of this, which I think is a normal reaction! I remember when my dad died I was ticked at God for years!

Some people carry anger, bitterness, resentment, and worry around with them like rocks in a backpack. All those things do is drag ya down and wear ya out!

God wants to lighten the load by taking those things away from you, but you’ve got to let Him!

Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

He Is Today Our Comforter! Rejoice And Be Glad In That Fact!

You Can Bank On The Word Of God!

What God says in His Word He will do, you can bank on it!

The Assyrian Army was threatening King Hezekiah and the Children of Israel! Hezekiah took this problem to the Lord! We should take our problems to Him to!

The Lord heard the prayers of Hezekiah just like He does yours and mine, and He answered them!

The Lord comforted the King by saying this, “Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the King of Assyria. He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it!”

If one of the 185,000 Assyrians had accidentally shot an arrow over the walls of Jerusalem, God’s Word would have been inaccurate! How wonderful are the promises of God!

Men will try to prove that God’s Word is inaccurate but in the end they will ALL look like fools!

We as Christians can stand on the promises of God, knowing that He does not lie! Be blessed and Have A Blessed Day!

There’s A Storm Coming!

When I was a boy living in Georgia we’d get some pretty bad weather from hurricanes because we only live about 70 to 75 miles from the coast.

We’d listen intendly to the forecast the weather man was giving and then we’d get ready for the storm when to hit.

When the storm came, we’d all go to a long hallway in the center of the house and sit on the floor until the storm passed.

I’m here to tell ya, there’s a storm coming like we’ve never seen before and we can’t stop it! This is what the Bible calls the Day of the Lord, or the Lord’s vengeance.

When God comes back we as Christians will not be here but the ones that are left behind are in for the ride of their life!

The only way to avoid this storm is to surrender your heart and life to Jesus. He has made preparation for it, all you have to do is accept Him!

The following verse is the forecast for the future. We as Christians must worn people about the coming storm!

Isaiah 34:3, Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood!

A Prayer For All Of Us!

How’s things going for you today? Some of you got up this morning all stress out! Things aren’t going well at work and you don’t get along with the boss! School is a pain as you cram for the next exam! You feel like your friends have betrayed you and you feel all alone! The baby has a high fever and you don’t know what to do!

Things don’t always go our way and they don’t always work out the way we want. Friends do betray each other and the reason you’re craming for that test is because you haven’t been faithful to study as you go along. And yes, babies get high fevers and we worry about them, but sooner or later it comes down and they’re OK!

When things like this happen why don’t you take it to the Lord like the Israelites did when they were being attacked from all sides! God heard their prayers because they are His children. He’ll hear your prayers to, since you are His child!

Isaiah 33:2, O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for you: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path!

A Little!

At times while reading the Bible I wonder why I’m reading the passage I’m in. To tell you the truth I don’t understand it and that frustrates me. But all of a sudden I come to a verse and it’s like God takes a 2 by 4 and hits me right between the eyes with it!

All that reading and finally a nugget is found that will change the way I act, feel and talk throughout the day!

I’m learning to let the Word of God speak to me, line upon line and precept upon precept, as He wants to do it! This is the way God gives it to me and it’s the same way He wants to give it to you!

You’ll be blessed as you read God’s Word Daily a little bit at a time! Don’t give up if you don’t understand a passage, that little nugget may be hidden in the next verse, a nugget that will change your life forever!

God Says…

Many Christians fret and worry about many things that they can’t do anything about! They ask advice from good friends to find out the well meaning advice doesn’t foot the bill!

God says in Isaiah 30:15, “Turn to Me, and I will deliver you!”

Now this, is good advice from our Creator!

Happy Easter! This Is Me, Sometimes!

Isaiah 29:13, Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men!

This describes me, sometimes! There are times I’ll go to Houston Northwest praising God with my lips but my heart is not in it!

There are times when I get up and read my Bible and my heart is not in it!

There are times we’ll give our tithe and my heart is not in it!

There are times I pray and my heart is not in it!

Man, at times I’m just like the Israelites, I’m a mess, but God loves messes.

Jesus loves messes so much that He came to this earth, died on the cross, He was put in a tomb and on the third day He came out, and right now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father!

Happy Easter! As you go to church today and worship God, let me encourage you to worship Him with all your heart, soul, strength and mine! Be blessed!

Let’s Be Honest!

Can I be honest with you? There are times I don’t want to read God’s Word! There are sections of God’s Word I don’t understand! There are Books in the Bible I’d like to stay completely away from, because they are a hard read for me!

I’ve pray everyday that God would show me in the Book of Isaiah what He wants me to learn. Today God gave me another little nugget!

Isaiah 28:13, But the Word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little…

The Word of God was given to Israel a little bit at a time! It was a daily grind of getting in God’s Word and because of this they backslide!

There are many Christians today who are in this same situation. It is not that they are weaker than anyone else, it is simply because they do not spend time alone reading God’s Word daily!

The only way you’re going to grow in the Lord is to get into the Word! For some, this method is not very exciting, but when you find those nuggets in God’s Word it can be!

Happy Easter and Be blessed!
