Short, Sweet, and To The Point!

Man, I love kids! You can learn so much from them! For instance, kids are usually brutally honest! If you ask them a question, their answers are short, sweet and to the point!

After reading the Word this morning I’ve come to the conclusion that’s the way our prayers should be to Our Lord!

Moses’ great prayer for Israel is recorded in only 3 verses! Elijah’s prayer on Mount Carmel was 1 verse! But the briefest of them all is found in Matthew 14:30 when Peter prayed! “Lord, save me!”

If Peter had prayed like I’ve heard some pray he would have been twenty feet under the water and dead as a door nail!

We are God’s children, and I believe He wants us to be short, sweet, and to the point as we pray!

Temporay or Permanent!

Yesterday we took Mimi out for her birthday lunch since I want be in town on her birthday!

Outside the restaurant was a beautiful, yellow flower! That flower is here today and will be gone tomorrow! It is temporary and not permanent!

When you accepted Christ into your life He didn’t come as a temporary visitor! He came as a permanent tenant by means of the Spirit to live in our lives! He’s not here today and gone tomorrow like some think!

Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing!”

Lifestyle!

College football starts this week! Some college fans are out of control already! They eat, drink, and sleep football! The Bible says for us not to love the things of this world! Is enjoying a game of football bad? No, it’s not, but there is something wrong with a life- style that includes everything in the world but leaves Christ out! Christ is the one we should be ranting and raving about! He is the one who should be getting our praise!

Sunday School Teachers and Preachers!

I thank God for Sunday School Teachers! As a matter of fact, if it had not been for my Sunday School Teacher in high school I would not be where I am today!

Learning from Sunday School Teachers and preachers are great, but they can’t take the place of the Spirit of God teaching you as you read God’s Word daily!

It’s a whole lot better getting it from the Head Master!

I Corinthians 2:9-10 Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him! But God hath revealed them to us by the Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God!

I Hope So Salvation!

I was visiting my aunt a few years back when I was in Georgia! She was in bad health and she made this comment!

She said, “Baby, I probably want be here next year when you come back!”

I said, “Isn’t it gonna be wonderful when you get to heaven?” She said, “Well, I hope so!”

I gotta tell ya! I don’t have a “I Hope So Salvation!” I know exactly where I’m going and I can say that with complete confidence!

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God! Not of works, lest any man should boast!

I Was Blessed!

Yesterday I was told that a friend of mine has been diagnosed with cancer!
I called my friend and he told me it’s true! He informed me that the cancer is everywhere!
I asked him how he was doing and he said, “I am praising the Lord!”
He said, “Bubba, the Lord gives life and He takes it away, I can’t live forever”
My friends name is Jimmie, and he could live three to ten more years!
I asked him what he was going to do! He said, “I’m going to preach until I drop because God isn’t through with me yet!”
I called Jimmie to encourage him, but I was the one who received the most encouragement!
We must learn to praise God in the good times as well as the bad! Jimmie has!

Breakfast!

Last night as I went to bed I got a wild hair and decided to get up and fix breakfast for Robin before she went to class this morning!

I was excited about spending time with her!

We had scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, ham and fruit!

Then the Lord reminded me that He gets excited when I want to spend time with Him!

Imagine, the King of Kings wants to spend time with the ones He created!

If this doesn’t light your shucks, then your woods all wet!

We Are To Hate Sin, Not The Sinner!

Romans 12:9, Let love be without dissimulation. In other words don’t be a hypocrite. Don’t pat another Christians on the back and say something you don’t mean!

Abhor that which is evil. This means it’s OK to let people know you hate sin. When someone is being underhanded in the church or at work it’s OK to bring it to light. Our churches would be in a whole lot better situation if this were done today! What some people want to do is sweep sin under the carpet! This doesn’t cut the mustard as you well know!

Cleave to that which is good. We as believers are to be identified with good things rather than shady practices! God hates sin and loves the sinner, and that should also be our attitude! Remember, it’s not about me, it’s not about you, it’s about HIM!

Genuine and Real!

Have you ever pretended to be something you’re not? Let me give you some examples: You say you’re happy, but deep down you’re not! You say everything is OK with you and your wife, but at home behind closed doors it’s everything but! You say you trust the Lord in all things, but when hard times come, you flip and flop in bed worrying about the situation your in!

We’re good actors aren’t we? In other words, we’re hypocrites! We’re good at playing the part, but that’s what the word hypocrite means!

God wants us to be genuine and real. When we’re genuine and real God can and will use us to do mighty things for Him. God wants us to be normal and natural, or should I say normal and supernatural!

Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God!
