Characteristics of a True Christian, 11 & 12! Something To Think About!

I’ve shared with you 13 Characteristics of a True Christian including the first one which was A Sonship. Tomorrow I’ll share the last two. I hope you’ve learned as much from them as I have!

A Warfare – I Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before your witnesses.”

We are in a battle my friend and the only way for us to have victory is to walk in Jesus Christ. We MUST allow the lost world to see Jesus in us!

A Race – Hebrews 12:1 says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Like it or not people are watching us. They see and hear what we as Christians say and do and sometimes they decide whether to accept the Lord or not because of that! Let’s get rid of the sin that destroys our witness for Him!

Characteristice of a True Christian, 9 & 10! Something To Think About!

It’s good to be back home for a few days. I don’t know if I’ll be sending our a devotional tomorrow. My computer goes in today for repair and I don’t know when I’ll be getting it back. He has promised me it will be fixed on Friday. Be blessed.

A Sacrifice – Romans 12:1 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

God wants us to yield our bodies to Him. It should be a living sacrifice, set apart for God, well pleasing to Him!

A Walk – Colossians 2:6 says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him.”

There has been so many times I’ve walk without Him, trying to do things on my own. When this happens I make a mess of my life and the lives of those around me. I don’t need to walk by Him but I need to learn to walk in Him!

I Can’t! Something To Think About!

I played football for ten years and during those ten years I never looked at my coach and said, “I Can’t!” I always believed I could do anything they asked me to do on a football field. I was confident in my ability as a player and I had faith in my coach.

Now, Jesus Christ is my coach. He coaches me every single day of my life. After I read His playbook He tells me things He wants me to do for Him. He tells me I’m to be a fisher of men 24/7. I’m to tell others about Him at work, at play, and while I’m hanging out around the house!

I admit, I don’t always do this. It’s not because I can’t, it’s because I’m downright scared at times and I have a lack of faith in the one who is giving the command.

Remember, God tells us to go and make disciples of all nations! God doesn’t give impossible commands. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!”

Characteristics of a True Christian, 7 & 8! Something To Think About!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing with you 7 & 8 of the Characteristics of a True Christian! Enjoy!

An Education – John 8:31,32 says, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Learning about God and His word is a never ending process. Every time I open Gods word I learn something new!

A Service – I Timothy 6:18 says, “That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate!”

We are to serve and do good but we need to realize that goodness doesn’t get a person into heaven!

Characteristics of a True Christian, 5 & 6! Something To Think About!

I’ve shared with you five characteristics of a true Christian. A New Birth, A Growth, A New Dress, A Radiant Life, and A Sonship. Today I’ll share with you two more.

A Character Builder – Matthew 7:24 says, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house on the rock.”

My mom once said a man’s word is all he’s got. In other words, you’ve gotta have character and Godly character is built upon Jesus Christ.

A Fellowship – Luke 24:42 says, “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened the scriptures?’

I love spending time with family and friends but the older I get the more I enjoy spending time with the Lord. I always have sweet fellowship with Him!

Characteristics of a True Christian! Something To Think About!

Last week I shared one characteristic of a true christian with you. Listed below are two more.

A New Birth – John 3:5, Jesus answered, “Verily, verily I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of heaven.”

I truly believe with all my heart that there will be those who stand before the Lord and He’ll say to them, “Depart from me for I never knew you!” Some folks think they’ll get into heaven because they’ve done good things. Doing good is good but it’s not good enough, you’ve gotta  know Jesus!

A Growth – 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

A true christian will have a desire to grow closer to the Lord. They’ll want to get to know Him better, and the only way to do that is to spend time with Him!

Characteristics of a True Christian, Continued! Something To Think About!

I hope you’re enjoying the Characteristics of a True Christian! Yesterday I shared with you A New Birth and A Growth. Today we’ll take a look at A New Dress and A Radiant Life!

A New Dress – Isaiah 61:10 says, “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He  hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with jewels.” (No Tuxedo or Wedding Gown Can Compare To The Garments God Clothes Us With!)

A Radiant Life – Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

When people see us at work, or our family sees us at home what do they see. I’ll have to admit some people have seen the light of  Jesus in me, but at home it’s not always that way. At home the light is dim and sometimes completely out!

Characteristics of A Christian! Something To Think About!

Last night I was at Bristol Baptist Church in Bristol, Georgia and I was speaking to the men’s group there. I asked them to give me some characteristics of a football player. One said he has to be smart, another said he had to be in good shape and the other said he had to be a determined individual.

I then shared with them 12 Characteristics of a True Christian. Tomorrow I will share with you the first two and then two each day following. I’ll have to admit I was planning on doing that today but I left my notes at home!

I do know one of characteristics is Son-ship. John 1:12 says, But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the Sons of God!”

Think about it, God is your heavenly Father if you know Him, and Jesus the Son is preparing a place for us to live when we get to heaven. Awesome, absolutely awesome!

We All Need The Lord! Something To Think About!

Mark 3:9-10 says, And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should trample him.

For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

Can you imagine living in the day of Jesus and hearing about the many miracles he performed? The crowds were not only hindering him but they were putting him in danger.

These people were desperate. Some of them were sick and some of their kids were sick and they were determined to get to the Lord. They had a need and they knew he could and would meet their need!

You know, the human family is a needy family and the Lord promises to meet our needs. I praise God for the way he meets the needs of my family!
