A Smack Up Beside The Head!

Colossians 3:17, And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

When I played football I can honestly say I always did my best. Oh, there were times I wanted to be lazy and take off this play or that play, but for some reason I refused!

It’s a shame I haven’t always done my best as a Christian. I get a little lazy at times concerning my walk and my work for him.

And I don’t always give thanks in all things either!

I assume I’m not the only one who struggles with the issue of being lazy and being unthankful.

Lord, I thank you for smacking me up beside the head this morning! Amen!

The Power Of The Holy Spirit!

We’ve had the old nature since the day we were born. Since the old nature has been with us so long, we have developed bad habits and gossip and lying are two of them.

For us to overcome the old nature we must put on the new nature and live in the power of the Holy Spirit!

The New Nature Is Jesus Christ My Friends!

Things Above!

Hello Friends,

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2

I’ve been told that the word affection means mind. Set your mind on things above.

I don’t know about you but my mind tends to wonder when I’m in church or when I’m having my quite time.

You have two choices to make.

1. You can give up and say I’m not getting anything out of this.

2. Or, you can discipline yourself to do what you know you should do.

Five years ago I made up my mind to have a Quite Time Daily. I promised the Lord I wouldn’t miss spending time alone with Him unless I had one foot in the grave or I was in a coma.

I’ve not broken my promise and I’m here to tell ya that God has changed this old country boy in more ways than one!

Now, don’t hear me as bragging! I tell you this to let you know if I can do it so can you!

Set your mind on things above, and not on the things on the earth!

Update While In Poteau, OK, Broken Arrow, OK, and Tulsa, Ok.

Good Morning Friends,

As you know I’ve been gone for the past few days! I arrived in Houston yesterday and it was great seeing my bride of almost 40 years.

I’d like to share with you the things that God did while I was away.

When I left Houston I drove to Poteau, Oklahoma. I was there on a Saturday at Southside Baptist Church.

I did a children’s program for them and when I gave the invitation 23 folks made a profession of faith, and many of them were adults!

I then drove to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma after that program to stay with my mother in law.

Sunday morning I was at the Church At The Midtown. I did three kids worships back to back and we saw 39 children make a profession of faith for our Lord Jesus Christ!

Sunday night through Wednesday I was in revival at Glenwood Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Pastor Clayton Griggs.

Sunday night we saw 32 people, mainly older folks walk the aisle re-dedicate there lives to Jesus. It was awesome y’all!

After the folks got right with the Lord, revival broke out. When the dust settled there were 34 professions of faith!

I want to thank the ones of you who donate to the ministry through prayer, giving of funds, and a vehicle so that I can do what I’m doing!

I truly believe you guys and gals will get a piece of the pie when you arrive in heaven!

I love you all! Here, there, or in the air!

By the way, tomorrow I will be at First Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas and then on Sunday I’ll be at Above and Beyond in Spring, Texas.

Moan, Groan, and Gripe!

Philippians 2:14 -15, Do all things without murmurings and disputings, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky!

When we look up at night we see the stars shining among the darkness. When God looks down on this dark world, He should see those who are His as little lights down here!

Matthew 5:16, In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Question: When people look at you, what do they see?

Humble Pie!

Philippians 2:8, And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death on the cross!

Have you ever had to eat humble pie? It hurt didn’t it. For some reason we don’t like to admit we’re wrong even when we know we’re wrong!

This is especially hard for us men to do!

Notice here in this verse that Jesus humbled himself. Jesus sets the example in all things, even humility!

The Most Important Thing!

Good Morning Friends,

The most important thing for us as Christians is to have fellowship with Him so that our joy might be full! Then we will have a powerful witness!

Phil. 1:21, For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!

Drag Yourself Out Of Bed!

Good Morning Friends,

This morning as you drug yourself out of bed I hope the first thing you did was grab your Bible and spend time with the one who created you.

It would be a shame for you to leave Him sitting there showing no interest in Him at all.

There has been times I had no interest in Him, but that didn’t keep Him from being interested in me!

He wants us to get up and put on His armor so that He can use us throughout the day.

Let me be honest with you, without Him we are absolutely nothing!

Without His armor on we are unprotected and the devil will have a hay day with us!

Remember, if you want to be like Jesus, you’ve got to spend time alone with Him daily and that means every day of the year!

Be blessed y’all!

It’s Should Be About Others!

Others!

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

The word others is the key to this verse!

This was the attitude of Jesus. He didn’t die on the cross for Himself, He died on it for others.

Why should we spend time with Christ daily? For others!

Why should we memorize scripture? For others!

Why should we watch what we say about people? For others!

Why should we share Jesus? For others!

To think about others instead of ourselves is having the mind of Christ!

Does Your Lifestyle Please God?

Good Morning Friends,

I was saved when I was a teenager but my lifestyle didn’t always show I was a Christian.

I wasn’t raised in a Christian home and I had a very bad temper. I didn’t cuss much but I was always willing to fight if necessary.

I’ve never been drunk or high and I never fooled around with girls before I got married.

I figured I was a pretty good egg since I didn’t do those things, but one day I realized I was no better than anyone else.

I came to the understanding that my lifestyle wasn’t as good as I thought because I was leaving Christ out!

You see, He doesn’t want to be left out in the cold, He wants to be right dab in the middle of your life.

Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad. Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth…
