First Week At Camp Update Near Altus, Oklahoma

Hello Friends,

I’m in Oklahoma City now with my boys and grand babies. This past week of camp was fantastic.

When the dust settled 77 people had made a profession of faith and two of those were ladies.

We also had 15 re-dedications and 1 surrender to special service.

Tomorrow I go back for my second week of camp near Altus, Oklahoma. On Friday I’ll drive home to see my bride. I’m looking forward to that.

My asthma is better, but it’s still giving me a few problems. I’m almost back to feeling normal.

Thanks for your continued prayers. All of you are a blessing to me!

The Problem, Us!

God created Adam and put him in the garden. God made one rule. He said, “You are not to eat the fruit from the tree located in the middle of the garden.”

There was nothing wrong with this fruit, it was God’s way of seeing if Adam and Eve was going to obey or not.

You see, the problem wasn’t the fruit on the tree, the problem was with the pair on the ground.

Example: There’s nothing wrong with guns, I have four of them, but if I decide to go out here and kill someone, then it’s wrong.

The gun isn’t the problem. The problem is the one who has their finger on the trigger!

The problem with this world my friends is, Us!

Take The Plunge!

I remember a time when we lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma and we went to Ten Killer Lake to jump off the cliffs. It was a long jump, probably around 70 to 75 feet.

I remember walking up to the edge of the cliff and looking down, and trying to decide if I was gonna jump or not. I wanted to jump, but my mind was telling me not to.

Life reminds me sometimes of trying to decide if I’m gonna jump off that cliff.

Some of you have issues with families and friends and you’re standing on the edge of the cliff.

You know you should go and get things right with them but you’re unwilling to take the plunge.

Trust me, after you do, you’ll feel a whole lot better about yourself!

Some of you need to get right with the Lord. You have sin in your life and your hanging onto it, because it looks good, feels good and taste good.

You know you need to take the plunge and ask God to forgive ya and help ya start doing those things that pleases him, but you’re afraid!

Here’s what I’ve found out about the cliff and doing what God tells me to do.

Once I took that first step off the cliff the next one was easier.

And once I took that first step toward God in obedience the next one was easier as well.

Remember this, if you’ll take one step toward the Savior my friends, you’ll find His arms opened wide.

Down In The Dumps?

If You’re Down In The Dumps For Some Reason Or The Other Today, Read This!

Psalm 121

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—

From whence comes my help?

My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;

He who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel

Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;

The Lord is your shade at your right hand.

The sun shall not strike you by day,

Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;

He shall preserve your soul.

The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in

From this time forth, and even forevermore!

Cherry Tomatoes!

When Robin and I first got married we didn’t have a penny to our name. We lived off campus for a while in a little duplex.

I was playing football so I couldn’t work until the season was over. She had a part time secretarial job on campus.

I remember one winter we lived off of cherry tomato sandwiches and cherry tomatoes and rice. We didn’t buy the tomatoes, they were free.

Our landlord had planted a little garden behind the apartment, but he hadn’t tilled it up yet!

It was winter and the ground was covered with snow. We’d go out to that little garden, with those vines all dried up, with snow all around them and pick pretty red cherry tomatoes.

I didn’t really understand at the time that it was God taking care of two, young married people, but now it blows me away.

He was faithful then, He is faithful now, and He will be faithful in the future!

Lamentations 3:22-23, The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Living For Christ!

2 Timothy 3:12, Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

In this day and time you’re not going to be very popular being a man, woman, boy or girl of God.

It’s coming to the point where being a Christian is gonna cost you something, possibly your life!

Boy, I Blew It At Times!

Scripture says to lay hold of eternal life. In other words, make it clear by the life you live that you are a child of God.

This is where I blew it boy, when my kids were at home growing up.

What I appeared to be on the outside around others wasn’t the way it was on the inside at home around my wife and kids.

I think we can all say we’ve been there and done that!

Throwing Him A Bone!

When having your Quiet Time God wants your complete attention. He doesn’t want you to throw Him a bone by reading a chapter in the Bible before you go to bed with one eye closed and two feet already in bed.

Nor will it work in the morning when you are still half asleep, sipping on your coffee, and getting ready to go to work!

I Timothy 4:15, Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.

Let’s Get Her Done!

For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

We all have fears. For instance, I’m afraid of closed in places. I wouldn’t like being in a small closet or an elevator with a lot of people! Just the thought of this makes me go into a cold sweat.

Many of you know that I get inside a big balloon and they put kids inside there with me. The record is 46 kids and me. It gets hot, stinky and crowded in that balloon. There are times I dread getting inside and there have been times I’ve felt panicky!

I get fearful at times thinking about it. Now, the word fear in 2 Timothy could be translated “cowardice.”

Fear is a good thing, but you can’t let it control what you do. For instance, some folks are afraid of flying on an airplane, but some have to fly because there business requires it.

Some folks want to go on vacation to other parts of the world and for them to get there they have to fly, so they grit there teeth, buy a plane ticket and off they go!

And some of us have a fear of getting inside of a big balloon but we do it anyway!

Maybe God has told you to witness to someone at work and you haven’t done it because of fear. Well, grit your teeth and get her done!

Or, maybe God has told you to talk with someone you’ve had a problem with for years. Again, grit your teeth and get her done!

Fear is a good thing as long as you don’t let it keep you from doing what God tells you to do. Be blessed y’all!
