It Was Just A Cap Pistol!

When I was a boy living in the State of Georgia my mom and dad would take us to the Dime Store in Blackshear.

One day we were there and I saw a cap gun that I wanted but my parents wouldn’t let me get it so I put it in my pocket when they weren’t looking.

Now I knew that stealing was wrong even at an early age but at the time that didn’t matter to me.

I took the gun home and of course my mom say it. She ask me where I had gotten the gun from and I tried to lie my way out of it.

She took me back to the store and I had to tell the store manager what I had done. This scared me half to death but even at that age I was embarrassed!

My mom could have swept it under the rug, after all, it was just a cheap cap pistol, but she didn’t!

At the time I wasn’t very thankful for what she did, but I’m glad the old gal stuck to her guns.

I’ve never forgotten that and never will!

Scripture says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it!”

This verse not only pertains to the parents but to the grandparents as well!
