When Robin and I first got married we didn’t have a penny to our name. We lived off campus for a while in a little duplex.
I was playing football so I couldn’t work until the season was over. She had a part time secretarial job on campus.
I remember one winter we lived off of cherry tomato sandwiches and cherry tomatoes and rice. We didn’t buy the tomatoes, they were free.
Our landlord had planted a little garden behind the apartment, but he hadn’t tilled it up yet!
It was winter and the ground was covered with snow. We’d go out to that little garden, with those vines all dried up, with snow all around them and pick pretty red cherry tomatoes.
I didn’t really understand at the time that it was God taking care of two, young married people, but now it blows me away.
He was faithful then, He is faithful now, and He will be faithful in the future!
Lamentations 3:22-23, The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
