For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
We all have fears. For instance, I’m afraid of closed in places. I wouldn’t like being in a small closet or an elevator with a lot of people! Just the thought of this makes me go into a cold sweat.
Many of you know that I get inside a big balloon and they put kids inside there with me. The record is 46 kids and me. It gets hot, stinky and crowded in that balloon. There are times I dread getting inside and there have been times I’ve felt panicky!
I get fearful at times thinking about it. Now, the word fear in 2 Timothy could be translated “cowardice.”
Fear is a good thing, but you can’t let it control what you do. For instance, some folks are afraid of flying on an airplane, but some have to fly because there business requires it.
Some folks want to go on vacation to other parts of the world and for them to get there they have to fly, so they grit there teeth, buy a plane ticket and off they go!
And some of us have a fear of getting inside of a big balloon but we do it anyway!
Maybe God has told you to witness to someone at work and you haven’t done it because of fear. Well, grit your teeth and get her done!
Or, maybe God has told you to talk with someone you’ve had a problem with for years. Again, grit your teeth and get her done!
Fear is a good thing as long as you don’t let it keep you from doing what God tells you to do. Be blessed y’all!
