I heard of a preacher who lives in the State of Oklahoma who made this comment one day to some fellows. He said, “I’ve not sinned for over a week.” He also said, “There’s no way he could ever cheat on his wife!” If I’d been there I would have said, “Liar, liar your pants are on fire!”
Listen very carefully. You’re a sinner, I’m a sinner, and that preacher in Oklahoma is a sinner and we can’t get around it. Friends, whom do you deceive when you say that you have no sin? You deceive yourself, and you are the only person whom you deceive. You don’t deceive God, you don’t deceive your neighbors, you don’t deceive your friends, you only deceive yourself.
I John 1:8 says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us!”
This is worse than being a liar. When a person gets to the place where they say there’s no sin in their life, there is no truth in them at all. This doesn’t mean the person is simply a liar, it means that they don’t even have the truth!
