Guilty or Not!

Most people have been keeping up with the Casey Anthony case. Next Sunday, this woman who many feels is guilty will be released from prison to roam the streets of our cities. To tell you the truth no one knows if she’s guilty or not with the exception of two people, her and our Lord!

Take heart, sooner or later, this woman who many feels is guilty will be dealt with by the one who created her. Adam and Eve were dealt with! Moses, the lawgiver was dealt with, and David, the man who God said was a man after His own heart was dealt with after he committed murder!

We try to sweep our sin under the rug and hide it do we not, but we can’t hide a speck of sin from our Lord! He sees it, He knows it, and He hears it!

The Lord says, “Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I will repay!” Yep, things happen in this old world that we don’t agree with! Just remember this, God is the one who’ll always set things right!

Goals!

I’m in New York City today and I’ll be preaching at The Church at The Gateway. My goal is to preach the word of God in such a way that all will understand. The Bible says, “to feed my sheep, not feed my giraffes!” In other words I shouldn’t speak over their heads when I preach! That is my goal!

Speaking of goals, we all have them. Two of my goals in life was to be a good football player and a hard worker. Those goals have been achieved! Two other goals  I had was to be a good daddy and husband. Those goals have not been achieved because I have failed miserably!

You might ask, why have you failed? It’s simple, I wasn’t the dad or husband I should be because God wasn’t in control of my life. I thought He was at the time but He wasn’t!

Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”  The key to this verse is “glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Goals are good, but if those goals are meant to bring glory to the Father they you’d might as well trash em!

Tics

We had a dog when we lived in Muskogee and her name was Honey! She was a beautiful little cocker spaniel and she had blonde hair. One day we discovered that she was covered with tics. There were little ones and big ones!

A tic is a parasite and lives off the blood of others. It depends of you, me, and others to survive. Once a tic has embedded itself in you he’s hard to remove! It doesn’t want to be removed because your blood provides it strength!

We need to be spiritual tics. We need to latch on to Jesus and hang on once we’ve been wash in His blood. There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb!

Junk On The Tongue!

Have you ever woke up in the morning and felt like something was on your tongue? I mean, it taste nasty and you want to take something and scrape it off. So, you head to the bathroom, get your toothbrush out and brush your teeth and tongue, hoping this solves the problem! Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t!

The tongue has been a problem throughout the beginning of creation. It not only taste nasty at times but it says some pretty nasty things. Things that hurt and destroy the feelings of family and friends!

I have some good news! When we get to heaven our old tongues aren’t going to be a problem at all. Our tongues will be used to praise God and say nice things to others. There will be no cussing, fussing and fighting! In heaven the curse of  sin will be gone and we shall serve the Lord forever!

Revelation 22:3 says, “And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of  God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him…”

Heaven =’s Jesus!

I want you to think of the most beautiful house you’ve ever seen or been in. I’ve been in mansions that would absolutely take your breath away. Do you have the picture in your mind?

Now, let me tell you this, there is no mansion on this earth that compares to what God  has in store for you in heaven. I continue my study in Revelation and John tries to paint a picture for us concerning heaven. I’m sure the streets of gold and twelve pearly gates are out of this world. Oh, I didn’t mention the foundation of the wall which is made of jasper, sapphire, chalcedony and emeralds!

Heaven is a beautiful place filled with glory and grace, but I do not believe our focus will  be on the streets of gold or walls of the city, but our focus will be on the Lord Jesus Christ! He will be number 1 in the hearts of His people throughout eternity.

Jesus said in John 14:3, “That where I am, there ye may be also.” This is heaven, my friend, to be with Him! Remember, Revelation is about Jesus Christ, He is the center of God’s universe!FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailShare

Black Cats!

I’ve always loved playing with black cat firecrackers. I remember as a little boy blowing up cans, boxes, toys, ant beds, and a wounded bird. We’d take those little dudes, light them and throw them at one another! Sometimes we’d light the whole string and just stand back and enjoy the smell, smoke and noise.

Every once in a while we’d light one and it wouldn’t pop, it would just fizzle out. How disappointing to buy firecrackers and get a few duds! I mean, it looked like a firecracker but it didn’t explode like one!

Christians are a lot like firecrackers. Some are on fire for the Lord, they’re  exciting and they live explosive lives for Him, but then you have your duds. Everything is gloom and doom and there’s no excitement for the Lord at all! Think about this, we celebrate the Fourth of July today but everyday our little peepers open we can celebrate the day of the Lord!

Scripture says, “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Children’s Camp, Disney, Oklahoma

Last week I was at Children’s Camp in Disney, Oklahoma. We had a great time while we were there. It was good seeing some old friends from the past!

While there 153 or 154 people made some type of decision for Jesus, 54 of those were professions of faith. Men, women, boys and girls were walking the aisle taking a stand for our Lord!

One thing that makes this camp different is the Camp Director who’s name is Chuck Hill. Chuck will bend over backwards to do whatever needs to be done to make camp a success. He most definitely has a servants heart!

I praise God for Chuck and the decisions that were made at camp. Lives were changed and souls were saved. To God be the glory!

George, My Basset Hound!

Many of you know I have a basset hound and his name is George! That dog is the slowest moving dog I’ve ever seen! He doesn’t get in a hurry at all! He has a good personality. You don’t have to worry about George around kids. He absolutely loves them!

Even though George has a good personality he does have his flaws. He’s a hound dog and he smells like a hound dog at times and he sheds. He sheds his love, his smell and his hair!

George acts and smells like a dog because that’s what he is. If you know Jesus you are considered a Christian and Christians are to act like Jesus and share the love of Jesus Christ with others!

We are to shed our worldly wants and desires and live for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Remember, it’s not about me, it’s not about you, it’s about Jesus!

Heaven Is A Wonderful Place!

Today I continued my study in the Book of Revelation. The things God has planned for us in eternity is absolutely amazing!

Just think, in heaven there will be no sin, no bitterness, no anger, no cussing, no fussing, no disease, no hunger, no thirst, and the list goes on and on!

In heaven all people great and small will worship the one true God. There will be no disagreements about about theology or whether a person needs to get baptized to get there or not!

All that nonsense isn’t gonna matter there because our focus will be on worshipping the one who created us and died for us! All attention will be given to Him for He is gonna be on center stage!

He not only should be on center stage there but now as well! Let me encourage you to take a moment and ask God to show you things in your life that you may have placed before Him. Ask Him to forgive you so that you can continue to experience the joy of your salvation!

Which Way To Go!

I was talking to Miranda last night about her future. I asked her, “What do you plan on doing with your life?” She said, “I don’t know, but I’ve got plenty of time to figure that out!”

I had that same attitude when I graduated. The one thing I did know was, I wanted to continue playing football in college. After entering college I decided I wanted to be a history teacher and football coach. If you’ll notice in the comments made there was a lot of I and not much of the Lord!

After getting my degree I decided coaching wasn’t for me so I worked at Get -N-Go and Pepsi Cola for a while until I hurt my back! After the injury I started asking God what He wanted me to do and that’s when I realized He wanted me to enter the ministry. All during those years I never asked God for His direction which was a mistake!

It doesn’t matter if your young, middle aged or an old dog like me, we need to ask God for direction daily, for this is the wise thing to do! Ephesians 5:15-17, Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is!”
