There’s No Ifs, Ands, Or Buts About It!

My mother in law, who is a very fine woman has a tumor and it’s cancerous. She’s been taking radiation treatments which has caused her hair to fall out, but the tumor has been shrunk! Following her treatments the doctor will be cutting the tumor out unless God takes care of it beforehand!

She welcomes this surgery, because she knows that if the tumor stays in her body it may kill her. Sin, in the life of a Christian is just as deadly! Sin is like a cancer, and can spread throughout our heart, soul, and mind!

Unforgiveness, Kills! Hatred, Kills! Bitterness, Kills! Envy, Kills! Coveting, Kills! Jealousy, Kills! Offending Someone, Kills! And the list goes on and on! The Great Physician wants to perform surgery on you today. He wants to cut that tumor called sin, out of your life, but it’s your choice, you’ve got to give Him the OK!

No one in their right mind would keep a doctor from cutting a cancerous tumor out of their bodies, but we, yes we will not allow God to do the same for us!

I John 1:9 is one of my favorite verses found in scripture. It says, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness!”

The key word in that verse is “If!” If we confess it! If we trust Him to do it! If, If, If! When you decide to allow God to cut the sin out of your life, He’ll do it! There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it!FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailShare

Complain Or Give Praise?

Throughout my life I’ve done my share of complaining about this or that. Usually the things I complained about didn’t mount to a hill of beans.

As Christians we shouldn’t be walking around sounding like a bunch of old nags and looking like we’ve eaten a whole jar of soured pickles!

Praise is where it’s at for the believer. If we’re walking with the Lord we can praise Him in the good times and bad times alike. Whatever situation you are in, praise Him for He is God and He is good!

Hebrews 13:15 says, “By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit or our lips giving thanks to His name!”

The Christian Life In A Nutshell!

The Christian Life In A Nutshell is found in I John 3:23. It says, “And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment!”

In simple terms John says, “Don’t say you believe in Him and then not love one another!” How can we praise the Lord with one breath and then we say we dislike so-and-so in another!

John’s not talking about a love that you just talk about! God’s love should not only be on our lips and in our language, it should be in our life. God’s love is demonstrated to others by us through our actions! This kind of love is what’s needed in our day!FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailShare

Sins That We Cover Up!

There are sins in our lives that are easily covered up, and these sins will most definitely hurt the cause of Christ today more than anything else.  These sins are everywhere! We take them with us to work, to school, to breakfast, lunch and dinner. They cling to us like a tic on a dog or mud on a pig!

The two sins I’m talking about are envy and jealousy. How many preachers are jealous of another preacher? How many soloist are envious of another soloists? A great deal of gossip goes on in the church and out of church because of these two sins that are so easy to cover up!

Envy and jealousy have been around since the beginning. That’s why Cain killed his brother Abel! I John 3:12 says, ” Not of Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brothers were righteous!

Two Ways You Can Tell If A Person Is A Christian Or Not!

I’m in Edmond, Oklahoma at my sons shop. I came down this morning to hang out and  have some lunch with the young man. I left my Bible at Ron’s house so I won’t be able to provide you with all the Bible Scriptures needed! Please bear with me!

In Georgia, I have kin folk living there that I wouldn’t know if they walked through the front door. I will say this, if you put a Wright in a police lineup I do believe I could pick them out, especially the men. You see, the Wright’s have two identifying features. They have bushy eyebrows and they’re going bald.

Christians also have two identifying features. Number one, a Christian will not continue living in sin. He may fall into sin, but he’ll not camp in his sin for long. He has a desire to be right with God! Number two, a Christian will have a love for his brothers and sisters in Christ. What I mean is, they’ll have a genuine concern for their well being! These are two identifying marks of a true believer!

I know we’re not suppose to judge others, but dog gone it, we can check em out to see if they’re producing fruit. If a Christian isn’t producing fruit there’s something drastically wrong!

Whoopee!

We all have our favorite Bible Verses found in scripture.  One of mine is I John 1:9 which says, “If we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Pastor Floyd Allen from Faxon Baptist Church shared with me how he explained this verse to children. I’d like to share it with you.

He tells the story about a little girl or little  boy who goes to church and realizes they’re a sinner.  The child says, “Lord, I’ve made a lot of bad choices and I know I’m a sinner! The Lord shouts, “Whoopee!” And then he goes over and grabs a hose and washes them off with the blood of Jesus which cleanses them from all sin!”

Now, I know the Lord doesn’t grab a hose and wash us off with the blood of Jesus, but He will cleanse us from all sin which makes Him down right happy! This should make us want to shout “Whoopee!”

The Bubba Adventure Update! Wednesday, March 16, FBC, Stroud, Oklahoma

Hello Friends,

It’s time to jump up, spin around, hoot and holler.

Tonight in Stroud, Oklahoma at First Baptist Church there were over 200 people in attendance. I preached about the rich young ruler who had a chance to accept Jesus but did not!

I followed the reading of scripture with the Story of Rose! Rose was a little girl who didn’t accept Jesus until she became an old woman at the age of 73.

I gave the invitation and 22 people walked the aisle and 8 of those were salvation’s!

Total decisions during this revival was 94 with 17 professions of faith!

For this, I give God the praise and the glory. He’s on His throne and He’s still performing miracles in the hearts and lives of people everywhere!

I want to thank all of you for lifting me and this ministry up in prayer! Be blessed!

I’ll Cya Here, There, Or In The Air! Pastor Gene (AKA – Bubba)

The Bubba Adventure Update, Tuesday, FBC, Stroud, Oklahoma

God never ceases to amaze me. Tonight I crawled inside a black balloon and told the story of Jonah in the Whale as if I were Jonah.

When I got to the part where the whale spit me out I popped the balloon scaring most of the people there. I know, because I watched them jump!

I told them the reason they jumped was because they didn’t expect me to pop the huge balloon. I asked them this question, “If the Lord came back right now unexpectedly would you be ready for His return?”

I gave an invitation and 13 people walked the aisle, 6 of them had made a profession of faith.

So far there has been 62 decisions and 13 of those have been salvations!

Let’s give God the praise and glory for the things happening in Stroud, Oklahoma at First Baptist Church!

Who Is God And What Is He Like?

If someone were to walk up to you and ask you this question what would you say? “Who is God and what is He like?” Some Christians would struggle with an answer! God’s Word tells us who God is and what He is like! This is why I encourage people to read God’s Word daily. Reading God’s Word draws us closer to Him, and when we get close to Him we get to know Him much better!

In I John, John gives us three definitions of God!

Number 1. God is light. I John 1:5 says, “This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all!”

Number 2. God is love. I John 4:8 says, “He that loveth not knowth not God, for God is love!”

Number 3. God is life. I John 5:11 says, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” (Draw Close To Him And He’ll Draw Close To You My Friends!)
