A Slap Turned Into Forgiveness!

Once upon a time there was a little boy who lived in Georgia. His dad had died at an early age and he was raised around three woman. His mom, older sister and twin sister.

When the mom had to go to work the older sister was naturally the one left in charge.

This boy didn’t want to listen to anyone, especially the older sister.

One day she was telling him what to do and he slapped her. He hit her so hard his hand print was left on the side of her face. She cried!

Years later this boy was saved and eventually asked the sister to forgive him of this.

She remembered what he had done, but she didn’t hesitate, she forgave him.

Today they are the best of friends. The sisters name is Cecelia Herrin and of course that mean little boy was me.

I want to thank my sister for loving me even when I wasn’t very lovable!

Maybe someone has hurt you or you’ve hurt them like I did. Why don’t you give em a call and work things out! That’s what God would want you to do!

Faith Plus Nothing Is What Saves!

Galatians 2:15

Knowing that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

After reading this verse how in the world can a person think they can work their way into heaven or feel they have to join a certain church to be saved.

It’s simple, it’s saying we are not saved by any work that we do, we are saved when we put our faith in Jesus Christ.

If we are saved by accepting Jesus and joining a certain church or being baptized the thief on the cross didn’t stand a chance and it makes Jesus out to be a liar, for He said to the thief that day, “Today You Will Be With Me In Paradise.”

The thief is in heaven and he didn’t join the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the Church of Christ or the Lutheran Church, and he wasn’t baptized.

Now, do I think you need to join a church? For sure, and the Bible teaches that.

Do I think you need to follow the Lord in believers baptism? Most definitely, the Bible teaches that as well!

A person is saved when they put their faith and trust in Jesus, and that is enough!

Remember, it is not faith plus something, it is faith plus nothing!

The Proof Is In The Pudding!

Have you ever heard the old saying, “The Proof Is In The Pudding?”

The real test of any Christian work is not promotion.

The real test is the results it gets.

Friends, be sure that you are supporting a ministry that gets results.

If it is not producing results, why would you want to support it?

Bringing To Mind!

Leviticus 4:28, The Holy Spirit’s role in our lives is to make us aware of our sins, even unintentional sin. This new awareness is a positive thing, a gift, as it brings with it the opportunity to be made right with God. David Smith, Patterson, GA

A Self Examination Every Now and Then!

When you go to the doctor he gives you an examination. Every now and then we as Christians need to give ourselves a self examination!

2 Corinthians 13:5, Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

I’ve done this before. One day I was driving down the road and I asked myself, “Gene, do you truly know the Lord?”

I mean, folks I’m not always a lovable guy! There are times I can get down right nasty, and I remember those times when I act like an unbeliever.

The Lord showed me that I was a Christian. Now, don’t ask me how He did that because I think He deals with everyone differently!

I’ve asked my kids if they know the Lord just to make sure. I think every believer ought to do that! Be blessed y’all!

Judy Douberly, A Great Friend!

Have you ever felt sorry for yourself? You know, you walk around with your head down and your tail tucked between your legs like a pup that’s been thrown out on the side of the road.

Sometimes we think we’ve got it bad and then we realize that other people have it a whole lot worse.

Many of you know about my friend, Judy Douberly. She has pancreatic cancer and she found out yesterday it’s at a stage 4.

She told me that the doctor doesn’t give her much hope. As I listened to her talk about the possibility of dying soon she assured me that she does have hope and her hope is found in Jesus!

What a blessing she was to me as I listened to her talk!

I’ll have to admit, this saddens me, but on the flip side I’m happy for Judy. My friend, knows where she’s headed, and she knows what to expect when she gets there! She most definitely has a peace that passes all understanding!

Philippians 4:4, Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!

Please remember Judy, Jimmie and Julie in your prayers. Be blessed y’all!

God Answers Prayer. Sometimes The Answer Is No!

2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Paul said, “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Three times Paul asked God to take something away from him. The Lord heard him the first time, second time, and third time, and the answer still was no!

There are times we want God to say yes and he says no. God knows what’s best for us, let’s learn to trust God and be satisfied with either answer!

Instructions!

Have you ever purchased a toy and tried to assemble it by not reading the instructions?

Did you know that living the Christian life comes with instructions and when we don’t follow those instructions we usually blow it boy!

God has given us instructions to follow and those instructions are found in His Word, the Bible.

Did you take the time to read His instruction book today, or did you leave it by your bedside or on the table simply to collect dust?
